GeoStamp® Plus overlays GPS (Global Positioning System) acquired latitude, longitude, heading, speed, altitude, date, time, number of satellites in view, and a user defined message with any incoming NTSC or optional PAL video source such as a color video camera. GeoStamp® Plus can also produce as a self-generated blue screen when no video input source is available. The video output can be transmitted or recorded for an exact, permanent record of where and when events occur.
GeoStamp® Plus includes a Windows based PC utility program called "gsLayout " that allows the enabling, positioning, and format selection of the on-screen GPS fields. This information is uploaded to GeoStamp® Plus via a PC RS-232 serial port and is stored internally in the GeoStamp® Plus device's non-volatile memory.
GeoStamp® Plus requires an NMEA 0183 compatible GPS receiver such as the Garmin GPS35-PC.

"gsLayout" PC utility program:
GeoStamp® Plus includes a Windows based PC utility program called "gsLayout " (see figure 3) that allows the enabling, positioning, and format selection of the on-screen GPS fields. This information is uploaded to GeoStamp® Plus via a PC RS-232 serial port and is stored internally in the GeoStamp® Plus device's non-volatile memory.
To install gsLayout insert the first 3.5" disk and run setup.exe. Follow the installation instructions. After the installation is complete the gsLayout program can be located in the Start>>Programs>>gsLayout folder.
gsLayout draws a simulated screen output. Each GPS field can be enabled, positioned, and if applicable, the format and label can be selected. The UTC offset represents the UTC time (London) time zone adjustment (e.g. -4 Eastern Daylight Savings Time). This allows for local date and time to be displayed. The "Load From Disk" and "Save To Disk" buttons allow loading and saving screen configurations to the PC. The "Upload To GeoStamp" button will initiate an attempt to send the current GPS field layout configuration data via the selected Com Port.
The GeoStamp® Plus must be ready to receive the data through the on-screen menu.
The GPS Receiver Status field indicates GPS receiver status. A CLOCK icon indicates communication to the GPS receiver has not been established. A SATELLITE DISH icon indicates that less than three satellites have been located. Three or more satellites are required for a fix.
Upon applying power GeoStamp® Plus attempts to communicate with the GPS receiver. Once communications has been established GeoStamp® Plus waits for three satellites to lock at which point the GPS real-time information is displayed. GeoStamp updates the screen after each valid GPRMC and optional GPGGA (for altitude) sentences have been received from the GPS receiver.
