OSD-ID (SA): On-screen display id overlay board (standalone)

Discontinued Product

OSD-ID (SA) is a standalone on-screen display board that overlays user defined text onto an incoming NTSC or optional PAL video source. Every position on the 28 column by 11 row screen (308 characters total) can contain a user selected character. All information is stored in non-volatile eeprom memory so even with loss of power OSD-ID (SA) retains all screen information. The on-board four button keypad allows users to program the screen with up/down/left/right cursor movements. An on-screen menu supports functions to clear the screen, select the text triggering method, and toggle the translucent option, a unique feature that allows live video to pass through the text like the major networks do with their logos. The text triggering method defines how, and when the text overlay screen is displayed.

  • Dimensions: 3 1/2" x 2 1/2" x 1/2"
  • Weight: 1.2 oz.
  • Input voltage: 8.0 to 14.0 volts DC (80 ma max.)
  • Operating temperature: -10 C to +70 C
  • Text area: 28 columns by 11 rows (308 characters)
  • Text trigger methods: 3

Translucent: Y,N Translucent (see-through) text. Y = Yes, N = No

The OSD-ID (SA) normal operation depends on what is selected in the options menu "Mode" entry. The three text trigger methods are: ALWAYS, TIMED, and BUTTON. If user selects ALWAYS (A) then the screen will always contain the overlaid text. If the TIMED (T) method is selected then every 10 minutes for 15 seconds the overlaid text is displayed then it disappears. This is useful for ham station identification. The TIMED method will also display text if OSD-ID's J1 "UP" pad is brought to ground (or the UP button is pressed.) It reacts similar to the 10 minute timer running out. And finally, if the BUTTON (B) method is selected then the overlaid text will display only while OSD-ID's J1 "UP" pad is grounded (or the UP button is being pressed.)
